LATIN AMERICAN PSYCHIATRIC ASSOCIATION XXV CONGRESS

The American Society of Hispanic Psychiatry is proud to participate in the APAL meeting in November 2008, Isla Margarita , Venezuela . For more than fifty years Latin American Psychiatrists within the Latin American Psychiatric Association have gathered to assess the current state of our practice and to exchange information regarding the problems that our members have experienced in their different regions. We are very proud that a number of our Past-Presidents and current members including Juan Mezzich (President of the World Psychiatric Association), Renato Alarcon, Manuel Trujillo and Jose Canive (members of the International Scientific Committee for this conference as well as members and presentators of ASHP including Margarita Alegria, Moises Gaviria and Pedro Ruiz. We hope that you will share our interest and enthusiasm for this upcoming event.

The Psychiatry Department of Georgetown University Medical Center seeks a junior researcher (Instructor or Assistant Professor, MD or PhD) in an area compatible with a major departmental research program of trauma-related mental health services for economically disadvantaged and culturally diverse populations in primary care settings. The department’s Center for Trauma and the Community, funded by the NIMH, focuses on the development of sustainable, culturally appropriate mental health interventions for underserved women and their families, in collaboration with community partners in the Washington, DC area: http://ctc.georgetown.edu/. Center research is increasingly focused on the intersection of trauma, mental health, and physical health outcomes. Previous post-doctoral training preferred but not required. Candidate would work on current departmental research initially, and would be expected to develop an independent research area. Fluent Spanish preferred.
