ASHP is committed to recognizing distinguished Hispanic/Latino professionals in Geriatrics for their outstanding contributions to the field of Psychiatry and Mental Health. Each year ASHP honors a group of individuals for their careers, lifetime service, dedication, outstanding community projects, clinical work, and/or education; that has impacted the lives of Hispanic with mental illness in the US/Latin America/Globally.

Call for nominations

The ASHP is accepting nominations for the 2025 Dr. Pedro Ruiz Award, previously known as Lifetime Achievement Award, in Geriatric Psychiatry. This award will be presented during the ASHP annual meeting in Los Angeles, May 2025. 

Selection Process

In 2025 we will recognize a group of physicians, clinicians and mental health professionals who have dedicated their careers to  Geriatrics. Eligible professionals include psychiatrists, physicians, psychologists, social workers, nurses, counselors, leaders in Geriatrics.  We seek to honor Hispanic/Latinx professionals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty serving Hispanic/Latinx populations.

Eligibility

All applicants should be Hispanic/Latinx professionals. Applicants from all mental health fields are eligible (psychiatry, psychology, social work, neuroscience, and related fields). 

 

Award

  • Certificate

  • 3-year membership

  • Award Presentation: Presented during ASHP’s Annual Meeting

  • Video and Pictures of the Recognition on the ASHP website

Application Submission

To submit nominations, please send via email to castilrb@mail.uc.edu the following files:

 

  • Updated CV.

  • One page file describing candidates background including his/her career impact in education.

  • Candidate’s recent picture.

 

Submission deadline: March 15th, 2025.

Notification of acceptance to receive the Award in Los Angeles: April 1st, 2025
